Nakhon Ratchasima, known locally as Korat, sits at the start of the Khorat Plateau and functions as the entrance to the northeast — the point where the region's road and rail routes converge before fanning out to Khon Kaen, Udon Thani and beyond. Its own airport has carried no scheduled commercial service since the last operator, New Gen Airways, ceased flying it in 2019; provincial lobbying to reopen commercial flights on the adjacent air force base has not, as of this writing, produced one. That single fact does more to shape a Korat MICE brief than any venue on this list: every delegate arrives by road or rail, and the transfer time from Bangkok has to be budgeted honestly rather than assumed away.
The venues reflect a city built for business travellers passing through rather than for a flagship congress: three mid-size convention hotels, of which only one — Kantary — publishes a seating-capacity table a planner can actually cite. The other two, Sima Thani and the Imperial, describe themselves in scale terms (a dozen function rooms, a hall said to hold up to a thousand) without breaking that down by theatre, classroom or banquet style on their own sites.
Getting There
No commercial air service. The standard route from Bangkok is by road on the Mittraphap ('Friendship') Highway, roughly two and a half to three hours by car or coach; the state railway also runs the route, a somewhat longer journey. For any group flying in from abroad, route them through Bangkok and add the road transfer to the itinerary rather than treating Korat as a fly-in city.
Best For
Gatherings that can genuinely draw from within driving distance of Bangkok or the wider northeast — provincial conferences, sales meetings, training programmes in the low hundreds of delegates, which is the range the documented venues here actually support. It is the wrong choice for a group flying in from abroad expecting a direct landing; if that matters more than proximity to Bangkok by road, Khon Kaen is the better-connected alternative in this region.

Kantary's largest configuration, Lamplaimat 1 and 2 combined, seats 800 theatre-style or 350 classroom-style, with 500 for a cocktail reception; split back into its two halves it runs a genuine mid-size session (Lamtakong Hall, 500 theatre-style) alongside several smaller breakout rooms. It is the one hotel in Korat whose published fact sheet states seating numbers by layout, which is rarer here than it should be.

The Suranaree Ballroom, partitionable into two, anchors a complex of function space ranging from a handful of smaller meeting rooms up to its largest configuration.
