Phuket has been promised a "world-class exhibition and convention centre" in the local press for years, and as of this research no such venue has a public fact sheet, operating website or booking channel to show for it. What Phuket has instead is a run of five-star resort ballrooms — JW Marriott's Mai Khao Ballroom, the Renaissance next door, Phuket Marriott's Merlin Beach ballroom above Patong, Angsana's ACES space inside Laguna Phuket, and Pullman's Arcadia Ballroom at Naithon — each seating a few hundred theatre-style, built for a corporate retreat rather than a delegate conference.
The island's real MICE strength is what /corporate already sells: incentive travel and leadership offsites for groups of fifteen to sixty, where a beach, a boat and a private dinner do most of the persuading and the meeting room only needs to hold the group for a few hours a day. Every property on this list is 10-40 minutes from the airport by road, short by regional standards and realistic for a same-day arrival-to-meeting schedule in a way Pattaya, with its two-hour transfer, is not.
Getting There
Phuket International Airport (HKT) takes direct international flights from a growing list of Asian and a handful of long-haul cities, plus frequent domestic service from Bangkok (around 1 hour 20 minutes in the air). Every resort on this list is 10-40 minutes from the airport by road — genuinely short by Thai standards — though Patong-area properties can add real time in evening traffic.
Best For
Phuket is genuinely excellent for the incentive trip, the client retreat and the small leadership offsite — the format /corporate already sells — where the resort and the meeting room are the same booking. It is a poor choice for an exhibition, a trade show, or any conference whose brief needs booth space or a four-figure theatre seating count: no venue on the island publishes numbers at that scale, and the ones sometimes quoted as doing so are not verifiable against an operating fact sheet.

Being the closest of Phuket's major resorts to the airport is the property's real MICE advantage — useful for a programme where delegates arrive and leave the same day, less useful if the brief wants the resort feel of the island's southern beaches.

Its position on the headland above Patong gives it sea views a conference room rarely gets, at the cost of sitting inside Phuket's busiest nightlife district — worth weighing for a group that wants its evenings quiet rather than lively.

ACES — the Angsana Convention and Exhibition Space — is the largest dedicated function space inside the wider Laguna Phuket estate: 1,500 sqm of floor area serving the whole integrated resort's meetings and incentive business alongside 25-plus meeting rooms group-wide. Laguna publishes the floor area but not a seat-capacity chart for ACES itself, so theatre and banquet numbers need confirming in writing at the proposal stage rather than assumed from the square metreage.
About 20-25 minutes from the airport, inside the Laguna Phuket estate at Bang Tao.
