Udon Thani's business case is its position: the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge and Nong Khai are under an hour away, so trade shows and business events with a Laos-facing angle have a natural reason to sit here rather than in Bangkok. The city itself is commercial rather than scenic — a regional distribution and retail hub, with the Ban Chiang UNESCO archaeological site as a half-day add-on rather than a reason to build a programme around it.
The Udon Thani Convention Centre, inside the Centara hotel by Central Plaza, is the region's largest single conference floor in this deliverable at 2,900 sqm — built with a 9-metre ceiling specifically so it can double as an indoor sports and concert venue, which says something about what kind of event it is actually designed around. Beyond that one hall, documentation thins out fast: the city's other two hotels with meeting space, Prajaktra and Napalai, do not currently publish a seating-capacity table on their own sites.
Getting There
Udon Thani International Airport (UTH) is roughly 70 minutes from Bangkok by air, with regular service from Thai AirAsia and Nok Air among others. Nong Khai and the Lao border are a further 55 km by road, under an hour — a genuine option for a group with delegates coming from or continuing to Vientiane.
Best For
Cross-border trade events, provincial business conferences and civic assemblies that need one large room. It is not a venue to shortlist for a large international congress on the strength of published data alone — outside the Centara convention hall, request a current fact sheet before committing to anything beyond a modest meeting.

The adjoining Tung Sri Muang Grand Ballroom and five smaller function rooms handle the latter.
