The Andaman Coast is Thailand's most geologically dramatic coastline. Limestone karsts rise sheer from water that changes colour through the day — jade at dawn, emerald at noon, deep glass-green at dusk. Phuket is the departure point; Krabi is where the landscape takes hold of you.
Railay Beach is accessible only by longtail, protected on three sides by cliffs that end the road. Phang Nga Bay holds James Bond Island and a hundred quieter formations — some reachable only at low tide, by kayak, through tunnels of ancient rock. Khao Sok National Park, inland from Khao Lak, shelters a rainforest older than the Amazon, its lake ringed by karst spires that disappear into morning cloud.
