Dry season (December to August) for calm seas across the archipelago's open channels between islands; day trips typically depart Koh Samui early morning to maximize time in the park.

What to Expect

A longtail-boat tour through the 42-island Ang Thong National Marine Park — Thailand's answer to Ha Long Bay, all sheer limestone cliffs and hidden lagoons — usually combining a lookout-point hike, a swim or snorkel stop, and a lagoon kayak or short trek, moving between islands by open wooden boat rather than a larger cruiser.

How to Prepare

The lookout hike, to see the park's iconic overview at Wua Talap island, is genuinely steep for a short distance — proper shoes matter more than for most boat-based day trips. A national park entrance fee applies on top of any tour price, usually collected on arrival.
