What to Expect
A restored 10th–12th century Khmer temple complex atop an extinct volcano, built in the same Angkorian tradition as Cambodia's Angkor Wat and predating it. Sandstone and laterite carvings of Hindu mythology cover the complex, and the approach up a stone causeway lined with naga (serpent) balustrades is itself part of the experience.

If aiming for a solar-alignment date, book well ahead — those specific mornings draw significant domestic crowds. Otherwise, any clear morning works; wear shoes suited to stone stairs and bring water, as the summit site has little shade.
