Standing at the riverbank as the Mekong — one of the world's great rivers, forming the border with Laos here — emerges from overnight mist, often with fishing boats already out and the opposite Lao bank just visible. A quiet, contemplative start to the day rather than an activity in the usual sense.
How to Prepare
Set an early alarm; the light window is short. Bring a warm layer for the surprisingly cool riverside air before sunrise, even in a hot climate, and a tripod if photography is the goal.
