Best Time to Do This
Book a morning session, before the kitchen heats up in the afternoon sun — cool season (November to February) makes the walk to a local market beforehand far more pleasant than the hot season's peak in April.
What to Expect
A hands-on class scaled for a child's attention span and grip: simple, forgiving dishes like pad thai, spring rolls, or a mild curry paste pounded by hand, in a kitchen built for a family group rather than a commercial demonstration. Most schools start with a short market visit to see the ingredients before they're cooked.
How to Prepare
Wear clothes that can take a turmeric or chili-oil splash — aprons help but don't fully protect. Let the school know in advance about any allergies or spice tolerance, since Thai cooking classes default to a level of heat few children are used to. Come a little hungry; the class ends with eating what's been made.
