What to Expect
A short long-tail boat crossing on the Ruak River, at the point where Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos meet — arriving at the Golden Triangle by water rather than by road, past riverside markets and the old opium-trade watchtowers now turned into viewpoints.
How to Prepare
Bring a light jacket for the wind on open water and keep valuables in a dry bag or zipped pocket — the boats are open-sided. A hat and sunscreen matter even on a short crossing; there's no shade on the water.
