Best Time to Do This
Arrive right at opening, 8am, in the cool season (November to February) — Wat Rong Khun (the White Temple) draws heavy tour-bus crowds by mid-morning, and the white stucco and mirror-glass detailing photograph best in soft early light.
What to Expect
An intensely detailed, still-unfinished contemporary temple complex by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat — all white and mirrored glass, with a symbolic bridge over a field of outstretched hands representing desire and suffering. It reads as much like an art installation as a place of worship, and is genuinely unlike any other temple in Thailand.
How to Prepare
Standard temple dress applies — shoulders and knees covered. There's a separate paid gallery building on site worth the extra ticket if you have time; photography rules vary by area, so check posted signs before shooting inside any building.
